 भारत और श्रीलंका के बीच पहले मैच में जब श्रीलंका ने टॉस जीतकर भारत को बल्लेबाजी के लिए बुलाया तो भारत की ओर से ओपनिंग करने के लिए अया गिल और जयसवाल ने जोरदार बल्लेबाजी की और पावर प्ले की आखिरी गेंद पर गिल ओरपावर प्ले खतम होते ही जसवाल आउट हो गए  पहली ही गेंद पर स्टंप हो गए, जिसके बाद सूर्य कुमार यादव ने 26 गेंदों में 8 चौकों और 2 छक्कों की मदद से 56 रन बनाए और पंत के 33 गेंदों में 49 रनों की मदद से भारत ने श्रीलंका को 213 रनों का लक्ष्य दिया. माथिसा पथिराना ने सफल गेंदबाजी करते हुए 4 ओवर में 40 रन दिए और 4 विकेट लिए

 पहली पारी खत्म होने के बाद दूसरी पारी में बल्लेबाजी करने उतरी श्रीलंका की ओर से दोनों सलामी बल्लेबाजों पथुम निसंका ने 48 गेंदों में 79 रन और कुशल मेंडिस ने 27 गेंदों में 45 रनों की जोरदार पारी खेली भारत की ओर से  रियान पराग ने सिर्फ 8 गेंदों में 3 विकेट लिए और भारत 43 रनों से जीत गया भारत की बढ़त 1-0 हैं  .....मैन ऑफ द मैच सूर्य कुमार यादव रहे
